hack, forgive the ravings of a man who invested a lot in a series that simply didn't end satisfactorily for him (or his wife). hack series, and it's jaundiced my view of anything else associated with it. I relate this story because, truth be told, I also felt a little betrayed by the ending of the original. Yes, it's yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of The World, a MMORPG that seems to infect pretty much anyone who logs on. hack video game or a manga shows up in our house, as one did this past week. "I sat through 20+ episodes of a guy grunting, a girl talking too loudly, and a kid whining for this?!?!" I don't think I've ever seen her quite so angry in my life, and it's been a hard sell to get her to like anything ever since. "That's it?!?" she said, punching me repeatedly in the arm. Those of you who have seen it, know what I'm talking about. hack series might be a good way to go, and she actually did enjoy it, right up until the final episode. While she likes the Miyazaki films, and a few of the older series like Gatchaman, it's been tough to get her into anything recent. If you haven't watched the anime through to its end, skip the next couple paragraphs and read the review, but this bears saying: I've tried, very hard, to get my wife to enjoy my manga/anime hobby/obsession. hack story before we go into the review proper.
